Information

This Creation adds a long quest to obtain five non-combat pets: a blue frostbite spider that can spin web traps, a pack goat, a skeever that can locate food, a fox that can look for valuable loot, and a beige rabbit that can look for plants to harvest. Information on each pet is included in the journal of its previous owner.

This Creation also adds the ability to craft Animal Collars and Animal Packs using leather and leather strips. Other than the spider, each pet can be given a collar. However, only the goat and skeever can be equipped with a pack.

Looks like we should head over to Rorikstead and have a talk with Halvar.

You can purchase the goat called Hilda from Halvar. I then commanded Hilda to wait for me at home which will bring up a selection menu if you have more that one. I had Hilda travel to the Goldenhills Plantation. A nice farm that you can build in Skyrim. More about that here.

Farming Guide.

On Halvar’s bed roll you will find Halvar’s Journal. Reading his journal will complete Fin out more about Hilda, and start the next list of task in the Pets of Skyrim.

Find the tamed fox, find the tamed spider, find the tamed skeever and find the tamed rabbit.

Hilda is a trained goat owned by Halvar in Rorikstead. You can buy the goat from Halvar for 200 gold to make it your pet. She comes pre-equipped with an Animal Pack but it can be taken off if you desire. She can also be equipped with an Animal Collar. She is essential and will not engage in combat.

Hilda can be summoned using a teleportation spell. She can be instructed to follow you even if you already have another pet following you. You can instruct her to wait at a city, wait at her current location (either temporarily or permanently), wait at your house, or to carry items. Being a pack goat, she has a greatly increased carrying weight of 100 when compared to other pets, which is increased to 140 with an Animal Pack. Additionally, there will sometimes be a dialogue option to collect milk from her.

Where to find the tamed spider.

Fast travel to Cronvangr Cave south of Windhelm. Beware the first spider you see is not the tamed spider. You will have to clear a path of Frostbite Spiders and back your way down until you find the stone door. Activate the button on the right and take care of the vampires waiting for you. Up the short path you will encounter more vampires in a small shack one of them will also have the key to unlock the tamed spiders cage.

Use the key to Free Arachnia from its cage. After you free Arachnia from its cage yo will be given a Teleport Pet :Arachnia spell to summon her when needed.

Arachnia is a trained frostbite spider trapped in a cage inside Cronvangr Cave. You can free it to make it your pet. Unlike normal frostbite spiders, it has a blue coloration. It cannot wear an Animal Collar or an Animal Pack. It is essential and will not engage in combat.

Arachnia can be summoned using a teleportation spell. It can be instructed to follow you even if you already have another pet following you. You can instruct it to wait at a city, wait at its current location (either temporarily or permanently), wait at your house, or to carry items. It can also be instructed to “spin a web trap”, which will cause Arachnia to place a large web on the ground. If an enemy runs over it, they will be briefly paralyzed and covered in web. Enemies immune to paralysis will not walk over the web trap. Additionally, there will sometimes be a dialogue option to harvest Potent Frostbite Venom from it.

The Vampire Naturalist’s Journal contains background information on Arachnia.

While my siblings may be obsessed with the taste that fear imbues in the blood of mortals, I find that pain lends a much more potent sweetness. And nothing is quite so capable of causing pain as the venom of a frostbite spider.

But alas, the usual method of harvesting frostbite venom involves killing the spider – a costly and dangerous venture. Far too little venom can be obtained through violent methods for the experiments I wish to conduct.

To that end, I have captured a frostbite spider from deeper in the cave so that I may regularly collect its venom, which seems to be unusually potent. I discovered that it appears to have some measure of intelligence, and I have been attempting to teach it to obey certain orders. Oh how delicious it would be to have a tamed spider entangle my prey on command!

I think I will name it Arachnia.

Where to find the tamed rabbit.

Just south of Ivarstead you can fast travel to the Alchemist’s Shack. Read Notes on Tamed Rabbit located on the bedside table.

Where to find the tamed skeever.

In Riften you will have to go down to The Ratway to find the tamed skeever. Follow the waypoints until you find the skeever cage next to the stairs. Now all you need is the key to unlock the cage. You will come to a room where Lowlife is located. Take him out and grab the key from the dead pickpocket. You can read the pickpckets sad story about failed attempt to join the thieves guild and having to resort to eating skeevers.

With the Skeever cage key head back to the cage and unlock Skritch from it’s cage.
