Black Knife Catacombs Walkthrough
Black Knife Catacombs is one of the Minor Dungeons found in the Liurnia Region in Elden Ring.

How to Get to Black Knife Catacombs
You’ll find a trail on the eastern side of northern Liurnia, just northeast of the Erdtree, that leads into a little canyon. Lhutel the Headless, a phantom headless opponent with a fiery sword, will be guarding the entranceway when you arrive. Torrent’s ability to ride circles around them makes the combat pretty easy.
The two doors to open leading down to a Site of Grace are buried in the cliff face.
Black Knife Catacombs Walkthrough
A Skeleton can be found on the left side of the Site of Grace, down the steps. As a general rule, you should attack these skeletons as soon as they go down (as soon as the blue light appears on their corpse), or they will resurrect and require defeating again.
You’ll find the locked doors and Summoning Pool at the foot of the steps. Root Resin is located in the room’s left-hand corner. A Grave Glovewort (2) plant grows at the top of the stairs to the left, and a Grave Violet grows at the bottom. Two more skeletons will rise as you get closer to the bottom, but you’ll discover that trying to strike them while they’re defeated won’t work. This is because the necromancer will attack the staff from further down the corridor. Only by defeating him will the skeletons cease to revive.
A Imp Seal can be found to the left, which when unlocked reveals two skeletons, a swordsman in the room’s center, and an archer in the room’s immediate left-hand corner. After you’ve dealt with those, plunder the right-hand corpse for the Rosus’ Axe weapon.
Returning to the hallway, take the left path and look for a Grave Glovewort (2) plant on the left. There will be a number of falling blades on the right, which will require well-timed movements to avoid. To add to the confusion, there are two skeleton archers beyond the blades. Regardless, these archers keep resurrecting, so after they’re down, rush down the stairs and prepare to be assaulted by a skeleton on the right. A Grave Glovewort can be found next to the coffin (3).
A ladder can be seen falling to the left of the room. If you go down, you’ll find yourself in a vast sewage room full of little crabs. Grave Violet and Grave Glovewort plants can be found in abundance. A big crab will emerge from the ground as you proceed to the right, where you’ll find a body. If you start swinging as soon as it appears, it should only be able to pull off one or two attacks before you take it out. A Rune Arc is held by the corpse. However, be aware that a second huge crab will have emerged from the spot from which you entered.
Returning to the area with the blades and undead archers, wait for a blade to fall in the center of the room, then stand over it to be lifted up, allowing you to roll off onto the higher level. To destroy the archers below as well as the skeleton defending the necromancer, you’ll need to kill the necromancer.
Run through the two skeleton archers and turn right to meet another necromancer as you continue down the trail. If you kill them, all three skeletons in the room will perish. If you keep going, you’ll find yourself in a room with a skeleton warrior on the right and an archer on the left. After defeating them, strike the back middle wall to discover a hidden path leading to a mist wall.
Black Knife Assassin
The Black Knife Assassin is a full-health, significantly more aggressive variation of the Deathtouched Catacomb Assassin found in Limgrave’s Deathtouched Catacombs. Using the gold summon sign outside the mist wall to summon D, Hunter of the Dead to fight with you is a good option, and using any Spirit Ashes will aid to deflect aggro away from you for a brief while.
You’ll get the Assassin’s Cerulean Dagger and the Black Knifeprint if you defeat him.
Looking to the left in the centre of the area (where the skeleton archer stood) as you exit the chamber after the combat, you’ll see an aperture. You’ll re-enter the sewage region on the other side of the metal gate if you drop down.
In the corner, there will be a skeleton warrior to defeat, as well as two levers to pull. One will open the locked doors at the Catacombs’ entrance, while the other will open the metal gate’s door, which will serve as a shortcut back. Pulling the lever to open the metal gate will summon another skeleton warrior to fight beside you, so prepare to fight.
When you return to the Catacombs’ entrance location, the previously closed doors will be open, leading to another mist wall.
The Cemetery Shade is a weak but extremely dangerous opponent with powerful blade attacks and an immobilizing spit.
Three skeletons stand beside the Shade: two warriors and one archer. Because of the limited size of the arena and the sheer speed of the Shade, it’s best to employ Ashes like the Lone Wolves to deflect aggro away from you (and possibly stagger some adversaries) while you focus on the skeletons.
The Shade’s blades perform a slashing combination in two staggered spurts before an overhead attack. Because the slashes are so fast, parrying is nearly impossible. Dodging is your best choice.
Because the Shade lacks a large health pool, being aggressive and timing your strikes is the ideal tactic. The Shade will drop the Twinsage Sorcerer Ashes if defeated.
You’ll discover some Deathroot in the chest, as well as some Root Resin in the back left corner.
