Redfall release date, trailer, and everything else we know

Xbox News

Redfall’s vampires aren’t your typical bloodsuckers. They were created after a scientific experiment went horribly wrong and are continuing to evolve. After their transformation, some vampires develop powerful abilities and grow into bigger and badder vampires. But they’re not the only thing standing in your way – players will also face off against the human cultists who worship the island’s hungry new leadership with the hopes of joining their ranks.

Vampiric action is coming to Xbox

AN OPEN WORLD CO-OP SHOOTER COMING SUMMER 2022
Launching exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC in Summer 2022. Play it Day One with Xbox Game Pass.

Redfall is a completely new co-op adventure that will be available on Xbox One X and PC. Deathloop is still in the works at Arkane Studios, but it isn’t the only project the studio is working on. Arkane is also working on Redfall, an open-world co-op FPS, as mentioned during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 2021 event. It feels both like the studio’s next step and like something utterly different at the same time.

The town of Redfall, which has been overtaken by bloodsucking vampires, is the setting for this game. In Redfall, players will form teams of up to four people – or go it alone – to take down the deadly vampires by whatever means necessary.

The trailer for Redfall’s E3 2021 announcement may be seen above. It shows the four playable characters of the game hanging out in an abandoned convenience shop before flashing back to a violent battle the group had on the same street. They combat a bunch of masked humans with firearms and varied talents and abilities before facing Redfall’s main adversary: a swarm of powerful vampires.

What is the Redfall release date?

Arkane hasn’t given us a specific date for Redfall’s release. However, there is an approximate launch window: summer 2022, which is specific enough but is getting closer now that we’re in the year 2022. Given the ongoing pandemic and its myriad side effects, as well as the inherently difficult nature of game creation, I wouldn’t be shocked if Redfall was pushed back till later in the year.

Arkane is known for creating excellent single-player experiences that combine environmental storytelling with engaging gameplay design. While both of those elements are expected to be present in Redfall, the game is unlike anything else the company has done before, especially in terms of cooperative gameplay.

You can play it single, but it’s also being created for four-player co-op, with a diverse cast of vampire hunters to pick from. Each character will have unique powers, weaponry, and personalities, which might make for some interesting interactions.

Is Redfall going to be available on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, absolutely. Redfall will be available on Game Pass from the start.

What is Redfall’s backstory?
While the details of Redfall’s plot are unknown, Bethesda has sketched out the general outline. Redfall is an island town, according to the game’s reveal website “It used to be known for its lovely neighborhoods, winding streets, and breezy boardwalks. Then the vampires arrived and completely destroyed everything.”

Vampires in Redfall aren’t your ordinary undead bloodsuckers. Instead, they’re the result of a botched scientific experiment. That experiment, I suppose, wasn’t “Can we make vampires?” since that would be ridiculous. The fact that these vampires have been able to “eclipse the sun” is also mentioned on the page, which provides us some insight into their strength.
